My Guacamole Challenge Disaster

The Guacamole Challenge was interesting to say the least. My team and I wanted to be really creative and think outside the box so we decided on Chocolate Guacamole. I knew from my year of finding healthy, good for you recipes that chocolate and avocado could go together, so I googled it. After sifting through some recipes my team decided on this one since we thought it seemed the easiest. Instead of cacao powder we decided to go with plain old cocoa powder.

 

At three o’clock we gathered our ingredients and set out to create what we thought would be a yummy creation. Boy, were we wrong! The cocoa powder and avocado just were not mixing right, even with the help of my trusty hand blender. We used all of the honey I had, but it still never got sweet enough. In the end, it looked like poop and tasted kind of chalky.

 

 We served it with cinnamon sugar pita chips, which helped mask the flavor of the dip. Those chips are amazing and people coming over just to eat the chips. Even though, we knew were doomed, we still stood behind out dip as each co-worker came by to sample out creation. Honestly, a lot of people were afraid to even try it. They would laugh and take the smallest, tiniest dip and then move on. It was freaking hilarious.

 

I mean the dip wasn’t that bad, some people actually liked it. A lot of people came through with a look of fear, sampled the dip and their expression would change to surprise. They would then nod their head and say “that’s different.’

 

All in all it was a really good time. Everyone had so much fun getting into the competitive spirit. It definitely made the afternoon fly by.

Thank god for portion control bowls!  I allowed myself one bowl of tortilla chips and sampled each dip. I have to say though; I was very disappointed none of them were very spicy. L One claimed to be spicy, but failed. When I was judging that was my main criteria and no one measured up.

There were plenty of drinks to go around as well.

 

I managed to dodge the margarita machine. I am more of an ‘on the rocks’ fan myself. Plus, the margaritas were the oddest shade of green, not very appealing.

 

I did have to fight the urge for a Corona though. They looked so tasty in everyone’s hands. I just didn’t think it was worth it to have one in the middle of day at work, plus my stomach was already not agreeing with me due to the indulgences of chips and guacamole. (or maybe it was just my chocolate guacamole my stomach didn’t agree with?) Still, it was pretty interesting to walk through the office and see margarita glasses and coronas on everyone’s desks as they attempted to finish up their day’s work.

 

Surprisingly, even with my large afternoon snack, I was pretty hungry for dinner when I got home. 

I decided to keep it simple for dinner with a pita pizza and salad.

 

I topped a multi grain pita with tomato sauce, sundried tomato, garlic, goat cheese, green onions and broccoli. I put it in the over at 415 degrees for 10 minutes. It was the perfect gooey pizza.

 

On the side I made a quick salad to get some extra veggies in. In a bowl I tossed romaine lettuce, mushrooms, carrots, grapes and 1 tablespoon of mango poppyseed dressing.

 

Since my chocolate attempt for today was a complete disaster, I decided to treat myself to an organic fudgy dark chocolate cookie for dessert. Yum. This chocolate was oh so good compared to what I had earlier.

There’s a lot of good tv on tonight! I love how all of my fave shows are new again. I’m going to take it easy and relax in front of my television until bed time.

Another Fun Fruit
